Over the past few weeks we have been able to visit the Hope House most Wednesdays in order to volunteer. We have continued to assist with jobs in the thrift store such as sort clothes, linens, and cleaning supplies that are donated from the community and then sold to help fun the homeless shelter. Recently, we were able to work on a more long term project of staining the fence outside surrounding the playground to make it look a bit nicer for the children who play there. We got dimensions for the fence, purchased stain and paintbrushes, and recruited class mates to help. We were able to stain the exterior of the fence, and the employees and residents of the Hope House were appreciative. It was very neat to work on something that the residents would see every day as they go outside and be apart of an effort just to make some small improvements. As this part of the project comes to a close, we are in the process of adopting a family for Christmas and purchasing gifts for them as the holiday season approaches.
